Florida Family Travel Guide: Why Fall Is the Best Time for Theme Parks

- Author: Matt Meyers
Fall in Florida gives families a different way to experience a theme park vacation. Instead of making the trip only about rides, families can build a getaway around seasonal events, school calendars, new attractions, overnight stays and several days of family activities.
At LEGOLAND® Florida Resort in Winter Haven, fall 2026 brings Brick or Treat on select dates through October 31, along with more than 50 rides, attractions and interactive experiences designed with families and children in mind. The Galacticoaster also gives families another reason to add LEGOLAND Florida to a Central Florida itinerary.
For families traveling from Orlando, Tampa, Miami or elsewhere in Florida, fall can be a practical time to plan a theme park getaway. International visitors planning a longer Florida vacation can also combine a LEGOLAND Florida visit with other Central Florida attractions and an overnight stay at the Resort.
Why Visit Florida Theme Parks in the Fall?
Fall is a popular time for family travel because it combines seasonal experiences with the flexibility to plan around school breaks, long weekends and holiday travel.
Florida does not have the traditional autumn weather found farther north, but families can still enjoy the change of season through Halloween events, holiday programming and special entertainment.
A fall theme park trip can also work particularly well as a shorter getaway. Families living in Central or South Florida can plan a weekend trip, while visitors traveling to Florida for a longer vacation can add LEGOLAND Florida Resort to an Orlando-area itinerary.
Here are some reasons families may choose a fall theme park vacation:

Why it can work for families |
|
Seasonal events |
Add Halloween and holiday experiences to a regular theme park visit |
|
Family attractions |
Combine rides, shows, LEGO® experiences and interactive activities |
|
Multi-day trips |
Spend more time exploring the Resort rather than trying to do everything in one day |
|
Resort hotels |
Stay close to the Theme Park and build a more relaxed family itinerary |
|
New attractions |
Experience attractions such as Galacticoaster during a current visit |
|
School breaks |
Plan around fall holidays, teacher workdays and other scheduled breaks |
|

Combine LEGOLAND Florida with other Florida vacation destinations |
What Makes Fall at LEGOLAND Florida Resort Different?
The biggest seasonal event at LEGOLAND Florida Resort during fall 2026 is Brick or Treat.
Brick or Treat takes place on select dates from September 5 through October 31, 2026. The family-focused Halloween celebration includes trick or treating, seasonal entertainment, LEGO Monster character experiences, interactive activities and the new Brick or Treat Street. The event is included with general Theme Park admission on participating dates, so families can combine the seasonal celebration with a full day of rides and attractions.
2026 Brick or Treat Dates
September: 5, 6, 12, 19 and 26
October: 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25, 30 and 31.
Because Brick or Treat runs on select dates rather than every day, check the official event calendar when choosing your travel dates.
For families with younger children, the event provides a way to celebrate Halloween through LEGO® creativity, costumes, candy, characters and entertainment rather than making the entire trip about traditional Halloween attractions.
What Can Families Do at LEGOLAND Florida in the Fall?
A fall visit does not need to be built entirely around a seasonal event. LEGOLAND Florida Resort has more than 50 LEGO® inspired rides and attractions designed for families with children, particularly ages 2 to 12.
That makes it possible to build a day around a mix of attractions rather than trying to move from one major thrill ride to another.
Younger children can experience rides designed for their age and height, while older children can take on bigger attractions and explore different areas of the Theme Park. Families can also make time for LEGO® models, interactive experiences, live entertainment and other activities.
For many children, a first major theme park experience is as much about discovering what they can do independently as it is about the attractions themselves. Choosing a park with experiences designed around children can give young visitors opportunities to make decisions, try new rides and build confidence at their own pace.
Galacticoaster Adds a New Family Thrill

Fall 2026 is also a chance to experience Galacticoaster, the newest major attraction at LEGOLAND Florida Resort.
Galacticoaster is an indoor family roller coaster that combines storytelling, ride technology and a customizable LEGO® space adventure. Riders must be at least 36 inches tall. Guests under 48 inches must ride with a responsible rider who is at least 13 years old and 48 inches or taller.
That makes height planning an important part of a family visit.
Before arriving, parents can check the current attraction height requirements and decide which rides each child can experience. This can help prevent surprises during the day and gives children a chance to choose the attractions they are excited to try.
During Brick or Treat, Galacticoaster also receives a seasonal Halloween experience, adding another reason to visit during the fall event period.
Is LEGOLAND Florida Good for a Family Vacation?

LEGOLAND Florida Resort is designed around family experiences, with attractions geared toward children ages 2 to 12 and several ways to turn a day at the Theme Park into a longer vacation.
For families traveling from Orlando, LEGOLAND Florida is in Winter Haven, making it a possible day trip or overnight addition to a Central Florida vacation. Families coming from Tampa can also plan a dedicated LEGOLAND getaway, while visitors traveling from Miami and other parts of South Florida may prefer to include the Resort as part of a longer Florida road trip.
An overnight stay can be particularly useful for families with younger children. Instead of fitting every attraction into one day, families can spread their visit across multiple days and leave more time for breaks, meals and hotel activities.
Which LEGOLAND Florida Resort Hotel Is Right for Your Family?
LEGOLAND Florida Resort has three onsite accommodation options: LEGOLAND® Hotel, Pirate Island Hotel and LEGOLAND® Beach Retreat.
LEGOLAND Hotel and Pirate Island Hotel are located steps from the Theme Park entrances, while Beach Retreat is a short complimentary shuttle ride away.
|
Resort hotel |
Family travel experience |
|
LEGOLAND® Hotel |
A themed stay close to the Theme Park with separate sleeping areas for kids and nightly entertainment |
|
Pirate Island Hotel |
Pirate-themed rooms, LEGO® play and build areas, a resort-style pool and an in-room treasure hunt |
|
LEGOLAND® Beach Retreat |
LEGO® themed bungalows in a lakeside setting with outdoor play areas and a complimentary shuttle |
Pirate Island Hotel is located just steps from the Theme Park entrance and features pirate-themed rooms, LEGO play and build areas, an outdoor pool and an in-room treasure hunt with a complimentary LEGO souvenir on arrival day.
LEGOLAND Beach Retreat offers a different experience, with LEGO-themed bungalows near Lake Dexter. Rooms can sleep up to five guests and include a separate sleeping area for children. A complimentary shuttle connects the Retreat with LEGOLAND Florida and PEPPA PIG Theme Park Florida.
Families can also build a vacation package by combining accommodation with Theme Park tickets and other available park options. Current packages and inclusions vary, so check the official vacation package information when booking.
Should You Buy LEGOLAND Florida Tickets or an Annual Pass?

The right admission option depends on how often your family plans to visit.
For a one-day or short trip, general admission or a multi-day ticket can make sense. Families planning a longer stay should also compare available ticket packages and vacation packages before booking.
Annual Passes may be worth considering for families who expect to return throughout the year. Current pass benefits vary by tier. Depending on the pass, benefits can include admission to LEGOLAND Florida Theme Park, LEGOLAND Water Park, PEPPA PIG Theme Park, SEA LIFE Florida and other Merlin attractions, along with discounts on hotels, dining and other experiences. Blockout dates and other restrictions can apply to some pass types.
How Many Days Do You Need at LEGOLAND Florida Resort?
One day can provide time to experience a selection of rides and attractions, but a multi-day visit gives families more flexibility.
A two-day itinerary can allow families to divide their time between major attractions, younger children's rides, seasonal entertainment and the experiences they may have missed on the first day.
A longer stay can also make it easier to add other Resort experiences, such as the Water Park when operating, PEPPA PIG Theme Park Florida or SEA LIFE Florida Aquarium, depending on the tickets selected.
For families staying onsite, the three Resort hotels make it possible to stay close to the Theme Park and create a vacation rather than a single day trip.
What About Families Visiting From Outside Orlando?
A LEGOLAND Florida trip does not have to start in Orlando.
Winter Haven sits within Central Florida, making the Resort a potential stop for families traveling between different Florida destinations. Families from Tampa may plan LEGOLAND Florida as a dedicated day trip or overnight getaway, while families from Miami and South Florida may incorporate it into a longer Central Florida vacation.
For international visitors from the United Kingdom, Brazil and other countries, LEGOLAND Florida can also fit into a broader Florida itinerary that includes Orlando, other Central Florida attractions and additional destinations around the state.
An overnight stay can be particularly useful for international families who want to spend more time at the Resort without adding another long travel day to the itinerary.
Can Fall Be a Good Time for a School or Group Visit?

Fall can also be relevant for school groups, field trips and organized youth visits.
LEGOLAND Florida Resort currently offers school field trips for groups of at least 10 students in grades PreK through 8. School field trips are available during the academic school year and not on weekends, holidays or school breaks.
Educational group experiences can connect hands-on activities with creativity, problem-solving and other learning opportunities. The Resort also offers organized youth group visits for eligible organizations.
For teachers and group leaders, booking requirements, availability and pricing should be confirmed directly before planning the visit.
How Should Families Plan a Fall Theme Park Day?
A little planning can make a big difference, particularly when traveling with younger children.
1. Choose Your Event Date First
If Brick or Treat is part of your plans, start with the official event calendar. The celebration is offered on select dates, so your preferred weekend may not have an event.
2. Check Attraction Requirements
Review height requirements before your visit, especially if Galacticoaster or other larger attractions are priorities for your family.
3. Decide Whether You Need One or More Days
Consider how many attractions your children want to experience, whether you want to visit other Resort attractions and whether an overnight stay would make the trip more comfortable.
4. Compare Tickets and Packages
Look at general admission, multi-day tickets, vacation packages and Annual Pass options based on your family's actual plans. Current prices and offers can change.
5. Consider Staying Onsite
Staying at LEGOLAND Hotel, Pirate Island Hotel or LEGOLAND Beach Retreat can reduce the amount of travel involved and give families more time for the Resort itself.
6. Check the Schedule Before Leaving Home
Park hours, attraction availability, entertainment and seasonal event schedules can change. Check the official LEGOLAND Florida Resort website and Resort app for the latest information before and during your visit.
Planning Beyond Fall

One advantage of planning a fall visit is that families can also look ahead to the holiday season.
LEGOLAND Christmas Bricktacular takes place on select dates from November 21, 2026 through January 3, 2027. The 2026 celebration includes a new Christmas drone show featuring LEGO Santa, a new Rap Battle show and an interactive festive light trail. The event is included with general Theme Park admission on participating dates.
Kids' New Year's Eve will take place on December 31, 2026, with an early celebration designed to let families enjoy a New Year's Eve countdown without keeping young children awake until midnight.
That gives families another option when building a Florida vacation around Thanksgiving, Christmas or winter break.

Why Fall Can Be a Great Time for a Florida Family Theme Park Trip
Fall gives families a chance to experience Florida theme parks through more than rides alone. Seasonal events, new attractions, family-focused entertainment and flexible vacation options can turn a standard theme park day into a larger family getaway.
At LEGOLAND Florida Resort, families can combine more than 50 rides and attractions with Brick or Treat, experience the new Galacticoaster, stay at one of three Resort hotels and choose admission options based on the length of their trip.
For a child's first big theme park adventures, those experiences can become part of the fun of growing up: choosing which ride to try, taking the lead through a LEGO® experience, discovering a new favorite attraction and sharing the day with family.
For Florida residents, families visiting Orlando or Tampa, and international travelers building a longer Florida vacation, fall offers plenty of ways to make a LEGOLAND Florida Resort visit fit naturally into the itinerary.
