What is the LEGOLAND® Florida Resort BUILDING HIGHER Scholarship?

This is a pre-paid scholarship that covers your tuition balance and allows you to attend Polk State College tuition-free! We are hoping to remove the burden of having to pay for higher education because we care about your growth and development, and want to be able to contribute to the community prosperity in the county in which we live, work and play.

What exactly does tuition-free mean?

The LEGOLAND® Florida Resort BUILDING HIGHER Scholarship is pre-paid and covers the balance owed on tuition after applying any financial aid, grants and scholarships. That means there is no out of pocket tuition burden for you as long as you meet the participation eligibility and criteria (below).

Who is eligible to participate?

All actively employed LEGOLAND® Florida Resort Model Citizens in good performance standing, with no corrective actions within a rolling six month calendar, who meet the program criteria (below). This program will be continuously open to new and current Model Citizens.

Corporate and MMM employees are not eligible to participate in the program.

What is the criteria for participation?

Minimum of four (4) full days of work availability per week.
Minimum of sixty (60) days of employment service.

Maximum of 5 classes per semester / 15 credit hours semester.
Maintain a minimum grade C in each class. Failure to maintain a "C" or better grade or withdrawal from covered course(s) will result in ineligibility for scholarship use for two consecutive terms.
Serve as an influencer on LEGOLAND® Florida Resort social sites (Facebook careers, Brickbuzz internal communications), responding positively to queries on posts.
Act as a LEGOLAND® Florida Resort ambassador while on Polk State College campus and as a Polk State College ambassador while on LEGOLAND® Florida Resort property.

What does it mean to be an ambassador?

For this program the expectation of an ambassador is to positively represent LEGOLAND® Florida Resort and Polk State College, while embodying the values of each and influencing others that we are a choice employer/college. Co-branded gear will be provided for program participants to wear proudly. Maintaining and honoring brand integrity is essential.

How is this different from Tuition Reimbursement?

Tuition Reimbursement is open to employees located at LEGOLAND® Florida Resort, regardless of part-time or full-time status, who have successfully completed a minimum of three months service. Tuition reimbursement is paid out for business related courses at a reputable university or college, and granted after class finishes upon proof of C grade or better. Tuition Reimbursement requires a repayment agreement in the event you should be separated up to two (2) years following completion of the course for which you were reimbursed.

BUILDING HIGHER Scholarship is open to employees who meet the criteria (above) and are located at LEGOLAND® Florida Resort, regardless of part-time or full-time status. This scholarship is limited to Polk State College only, is pre-paid and covers the balance owed on tuition after applying any financial aid, grants and scholarships, for the current semester. Proof of C grade or better is required to continue to be eligible for future semesters. BUILDING HIGHER Scholarship does not require a repayment agreement.

When is this effective?

The LEGOLAND® Florida Resort BUILDING HIGHER Scholarship launches Spring 2022. New hires will require a 60-day service window in order to participate (must be employed by November 1). During priority registration each semester, a new scholarship application will be required.

How long will this Scholarship program be available?

LEGOLAND® Florida Resort will review this program on an ongoing basis to determine eligibility requirements and the feasibility of continuation of the LEGOLAND® Florida Resort BUILDING HIGHER Scholarship program. LEGOLAND® Florida Resort reserves the right to modify this program and/or any benefit relating to this policy at any time and will provide reasonable notice to employees.
