LEGOLAND® NEW YORK RESORT SEARCHING FOR TEAM OF “KID REPORTERS” Print

Contest Gives Kids a Chance to Get the Behind-the-Scenes Scoop!

GOSHEN, NY (January 7, 2019) – LEGOLAND® New York Resort is looking for a team of intrepid journalists to get the inside scoop on the ultimate LEGO® theme park experience – but there’s one catch: these reporters need to be between 6 and 12 years old!

The Resort launched its Kid Reporter Search contest today, calling on kids throughout the New York metro area to enter for a chance to help tell the story of LEGOLAND New York as it prepares for its grand opening in spring 2020.

“LEGOLAND Resorts are built for kids,” said LEGOLAND New York Public Relations Manager Matt Besterman. “Our rides and attractions are designed for children and families to experience together. Who better to bring us the inside story behind LEGOLAND New York Resort than the kids themselves?”

To aid in the search, LEGOLAND New York enlisted an actual kid reporter – Waverly Winchester, Kiditor-in-Chief of Kids’ News NYC. Winchester created the online newspaper and YouTube channel in 2015 (when she was only seven years old) to bring kids in New York City and the surrounding area news that’s important to them.

“At Kids’ News NYC, we tell kids to get out there and start reporting on what’s happening in your own neighborhood,” Winchester said. “LEGOLAND New York is our biggest story yet! I’m so excited this amazing theme park is being built practically in my backyard.”

“Waverly has all the qualities we’re looking for in a Kid Reporter,” Besterman said. “She’s curious, inquisitive, outgoing and excited to discover more about LEGOLAND. Her enthusiasm for telling our story so far has been awesome and we’re hoping to find more like her with this search.”

To enter the contest, prospective Kid Reporters are tasked with making a one-minute video explaining why they’d be the perfect choice. Their parents can post the video publicly on Facebook under the hashtag #LLNYKidReporter, or email it to llny.kidreporter@LEGOLAND.com.

Full details, terms and conditions can be found at www.LEGOLAND.com/new-york/kidreporter.

To be eligible for a spot on the Kid Reporter team, entrants must live within 100 miles of LEGOLAND New York Resort in Goshen, New York.
