Face Coverings FAQs
Q: Are face coverings required for LEGOLAND® California Resort?
A: Yes. LEGOLAND California Resort is following CDC guidelines as well as local health orders. All individuals entering into the Resort are required to wear facial coverings prior to entering and at all times while remaining in the Resort for everyone’s safety. Face coverings may be removed only for eating, drinking or while undertaking personal hygiene (for example, brushing teeth, washing face) and only when at least six feet away from the nearest person not in your party.
All facial coverings should actively cover the nose and mouth. If you do not have a facial covering LEGOLAND California Resort will either provide disposable coverings or will have facial coverings available for sale.
What is a cloth face covering? A cloth face covering is a material that covers the nose and mouth. It can be secured to the head with ties or straps or simply wrapped around the lower face. It can be made of a variety of materials, such as cotton, silk, or linen. A cloth face covering may be factory-made or sewn by hand using washable, breathable fabric. Coverings with mesh, holes of any kind, or exhalation valves are not permitted.
The use of face shields is not allowed. However, guests are allowed to wear a face shield in addition to a face covering. Face shields are not currently recommended by the CDC as a substitute for facial coverings.
Q: What if I can’t wear a facial covering?
A: These are unprecedented times and the safety of all individuals (guests and employees) at LEGOLAND remain our top priority.
We are following the Center for Disease Control’s guidelines as well as the requirements of our local health officials. In San Diego County (guidance as of June 9, 2020): “All persons two year old or older….shall wear the face covering whenever there are customers, clients or guests in a business or within six feet of another person who is not a member of their family or household.” It also states that persons with a medical or mental health condition, or developmental disability that prevents wearing a face covering shall be exempt from this requirement.
As a result, all guests will be required to wear a face covering unless they produce a note from a physician or qualified health care provider that they have medical or mental health condition or developmental disability that prevents them from wearing a face covering. Those exempted from the requirement will be asked to remain at least six feet away from guests not in their party and to wear wristbands while in the Resort so that LEGOLAND personnel know not to ask them to re-apply face coverings.
Please note that a note from a medical professional is not required for persons who are hearing impaired, or communicating with a person who is hearing impaired, where the ability to see the mouth is essential for communication.
If you have a disability that prevents you from wearing a face covering and have questions about the policies and how they may impact you or those in your party, please contact our Guest Services Department prior to your visit.
Q: Are there any areas of LEGOLAND where facial coverings will not be required:
A: Yes, in the below instances:
- Restroom stalls
- While eating and drinking in restaurant areas and remaining at least six feet apart from guests who are not in their party.
- While performing personal hygiene that requires removal of face covering (for example, washing face, brushing teeth) and remaining at least six feet apart from guests who are not in their party.
- Designated facial covering “cool off” areas.
